Should I fly to New Zealand from Istanbul or Athens?
I am planning on Backpacking in a few of the Greek Islands on a really low budget in October. Then I plan to fly to NZ. The flight going from Istanbul is around £200 cheaper, but would it be alot more difficult to get to? Or can I arrange my Greek Island tripping, so that I end up in Istanbul? I am trying to research, but am just getting more confused.
I fly into Thessaloniki and it seems like the accommodation from the Islands between there and Istanbul are quite expensive for a solo traveller. Dorm rooms hard to come by.
The closest possible to Istanbul from the Greek Island will be to disembark in Thessaloniki, but it may not be operating that late in the season.
Even so travel expenses to go to Istanbul and sleeping accommodation will be almost the difference of th flight cost.
My advice is to get off in Piraeus and then take the plane from Greece.
It will be easier and more convenient.
